The Fine Art of Large-Scale Contemporary Abstraction Mixed Media Painting with Artist Robin Jack Sarner

Saturday, Sept 5th, 2026 | 10:30am to 1:30pm.

Fine Art Contemporary Painter Robin Jack Sarner creates large-scale abstract mixed media paintings built through repeated cycles of layering, disruption, excavation, and repair. Paint, graphite, paper, thread, and found materials are continually added, sanded away, stitched, and rebuilt. Come and meet Robin and be inspired- During this demonstration, she shares not only the techniques behind her process, but also the thinking that guides each decision. Curious about contemporary abstraction? This is a chance to experience that transformation in real time, ask questions, watch Robin paint, and step inside her creative process.​

The Fine Art of Jewelry and Metalsmithing with Lisette Thierry

Saturday, August 1st, 2026 | 1:00 – 3:00 pm

With a B.F.A. specializing in Metalsmithing and Jewelry and a professional career spanning more than 50 years, Fine Artist Lisette Thierry draws on a deep creative background.

Her presentation demo will feature her signature techniques: hand-cutting every detail and setting each gemstone by hand, along with the inspiration behind her custom-made pieces.

Come meet Lisette and be inspired. Jewelry and loose gemstones will be available for purchase at the presentation.

The Fine Art of Wool Felting with Textile Artist Solmaz Shams 

Saturday, July 11th, 2026 | 1:00 – 3:00 pm

With a B.A. Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Artist Solmaz Shams draws on her extensive creative background and will be sharing her unique techniques of Wool Felting.

Wool Felting is a textile art form creating a dense fabric and 3D design details incorporated into fashion designs. Solmaz will share techniques and share her inspiration for her beautiful clothing that she makes using the Wool Felting technique.

Bill Meek has spent half a century turning glass into art with nothing but a hammer and his hands. He's bringing his sculptures, and his story, to Palos Verdes Art Center on May 8th.

After four decades in commercial art, Margaret Mohr found her voice in watercolor. Join her on April 18th as she demonstrates her technique of mixing color directly on the page to create the soft, luminous florals she's known for.

Atrium at Palos Verdes Art Center

Artist Joyce Welsh demonstrates watercolor batik, a technique where wax resist and flowing watercolor interact to create brilliant colors, delicate textures, and intricate patterns. Visitors drop in throughout the afternoon to watch her process unfold

A self-guided tour that brings art lovers together with talented artists across the Palos Verdes Peninsula, exploring private studios and the Palos Verdes Art Center. From handmade jewelry and textiles to sculptures, paintings, and photography, it showcases the extraordinary creativity thriving in our community.
